If you are a salon suite owner, the Fall is a great time of year to refresh and restart, especially if you have had a hectic summer. In our last blog, we shared why fall is a great time to launch specials and highlight services as well as some ideas to boost sales during this time of year. Fall is also a great time to get your salon suite rental organized before the holiday season arrives. Chances are, the next few holiday months will be business for your salon business, so it’s important to get ahead of the game by organizing and getting things organized.

At Mattison Avenue Salon Suites & Spa, we offer beautiful, spacious salon suite rentals that are perfect for established beauty professionals. One of the best things about being a salon professional at Mattison Avenue Salon Suites & Spa is having the freedom to customize your own salon space. Each of our rental salon studios comes fully equipped with the amenities and major equipment you might need for the organization including cabinetry and plenty of storage options. From there, you are free to customize your studio in any way you please. In today’s post, we’ll look at a few tips that can help you keep your salon space organized.

Eliminate Clutter

It’s time to summon your inner Marie Kondo and toss anything that doesn’t spark joy. If you have clutter or anything unnecessary hanging around in your salon suite, get rid of it. Especially when your busy, it can be easy for clutter to accumulate in your salon space. Not only does it look unprofessional, but it can also be a major distraction. According to a study conducted by Princeton University a few years ago, excessive items in your surroundings or work space can negatively impact your ability to focus and process information, something you don’t want to happen when you are with your clients! Take a look at your workspace. Is there anything you don’t need, don’t use, or that isn’t producing any joy or value to your work? If so, consider donating, passing it on to a friend, or simply trashing it. You may be surprised at how good you feel once you get rid of all the clutter you don’t need. This is a great opportunity to donate to charity and upgrade old styling tools. As Marie says in her book, The Act of Tidying Up, “tidying orders and relaxes the mind.”

Make Sure Everything Has A Place

Once you rid your salon space of clutter, you will want to make sure that everything in your space has a place. Having various items sprawled out all over the place only creates clutter, which you just worked on eliminating. Instead, make sure that you are taking advantage of every cabinet and drawer in your salon suite and that these spaces are also staying organized. Once you have a space established for your items, make sure you do everything you can to maintain organization, including putting them away as soon as you are done using them.

Use Available Vertical Space

Of course, you should utilize the storage options that are already available in your salon space rental. However, when it comes to displaying retail products and other decor in an appealing way you may run into some challenges. When displaying your products, take advantage of the available vertical space to avoid making your salon suite appear cluttered or condensed. Add modern shelving to the walls to give your products home. Be sure to add some decor to the shelving too, like a plant picture to add some style to the space.

Clean Up Your Scheduling

Scheduling is a vital part of being a salon suite owner. Proper scheduling will help you stay organized and on top of your hairstyling game! Whether you use an online scheduler or prefer the old-fashioned appointment book, it is so important that your scheduling stays organized, stays as efficient as possible. If you know that there are certain times where you work slower or certain clients that will require more time, make sure you are scheduling long enough gaps in between appointments. You’ll also want to make sure you have time to clean up, put things away, and take some time to breathe before your next appointment, and proper scheduling can make that possible.

Create A Relaxing and Refreshing Environment

In one of our recent blogs, we shared some ways to elevate your clients’ experiences, one of which was to create an atmosphere in your salon suite that reflects how you want your clients to feel. This can be done by adding certain decor, hanging soft string lights, playing relaxing music, or by offering refreshments to your clients. Whatever you do, the goal should be to create a space that you absolutely love and want to be every day. To quote our tidy friend, Marie again, who we may or may not be obsessed with, “Cherish the things you love. Cherish yourself.”

By following these simple tips, you can get your salon space and business organized and ready for the upcoming holiday season.
