Six Ways to Organize Your Salon Suite

ORGANIZING SALON SUITE

ORGANIZE YOUR SALON SUITE

It’s time to summon your inner Marie Kondo and toss anything that doesn’t spark joy. If you have clutter or anything unnecessary hanging around in your salon suite, eliminate it.

Especially when you are busy, it can be easy for clutter to accumulate in your salon space. Not only does it look unprofessional, but it can also be a significant distraction. According to a study by Princeton University a few years ago, excessive items in your surroundings or work space can negatively impact your ability to focus and process information, something you don’t want to happen with your clients!

GET RID OF WHAT YOU DON'T NEED

Take a look at your workspace. Is there anything you don’t need don’t use, or aren’t producing any joy or value to your work? If so, consider donating, passing it on to a friend, or trashing it. You may be surprised at how good you feel once you eliminate all the clutter you don’t need. This is an excellent opportunity to donate to charity and upgrade old styling tools. As Marie says in her book, The Act of Tidying Up, “Tidying orders and relaxes the mind.”

MAKE SURE EVERYTHING HAS A PLACE

Once you rid your salon space of clutter, you will want to ensure that everything is organized by having a place. Having various items sprawled everywhere only creates clutter, which you just worked on eliminating. Instead, ensure that you take advantage of every cabinet and drawer in your salon suite and that these spaces are also staying organized. Once you have a space for your items, ensure you do everything you can to maintain organization, including putting them away as soon as you use them.

USE AVAILABLE VERTICAL SPACE

Of course, you should utilize the storage options already available in your salon space rental to be organized in your salon suite. However, you may face challenges when displaying retail products and other decor appealingly. When showing your products, use the available vertical space to avoid making your salon suite appear cluttered or condensed. Add modern shelving to the walls to give your products a home. Be sure to add some decor to the shelving, like a plant picture, to add style to the space.

CLEAN UP YOUR SCHEDULING

Scheduling is a vital part of being a salon suite owner. Proper scheduling will help you stay organized and on top of your hairstyling game! Whether you use an online scheduler or prefer the old-fashioned appointment book, it is crucial that your scheduling remains organized and as efficient as possible. If you know that there are certain times when you work slower or specific clients that will require more time, make sure you are scheduling long enough gaps in between appointments. You’ll also want to make sure you have time to clean up, put things away, and take some time to breathe before your next appointment, and proper scheduling can make that possible.

CREATE A RELAXING AND REFRESHING ENVIRONMENT

In one of our recent blogs, we shared ways to elevate your clients’ experiences: to create an atmosphere in your salon suite that reflects how you want your clients to feel. This can be done by adding specific de

cor, hanging soft string lights, playing relaxing music, or offering your clients refreshments. Whatever you do, the goal should be creating a space you love and want to be in daily. To quote our tidy friend, Marie again, who we may or may not be obsessed with, “Cherish the things you love. Cherish yourself.” Following these simple tips, you can organize your salon space and business for the upcoming holiday season.
